Frequently Asked Questions
FINE ART PRINTS: I've been asked what is the difference between a normal photographic print and a fine art print. A fine art print is printed using the finest archival paper and inks available. Longevity tests have shown these prints can retain their full brilliance and color for generations as long as they are kept out of direct sunlight. With fine art prints I work with my printer to insure the color and density match my vision of what the image should look like.
CANVAS PRINTS: Canvas prints are printed on a canvas cloth material, giving the print a fine texture much like a painting on canvas. For a picture printed on canvas you would choose "canvas wrap". Once you choose canvas wrap, you can select either a wrap frame where the images is wrapped onto the frame itself, or you can choose to have your canvas print with a more traditional frame.
METAL PRINTS: I recently began printing my images on metal, and I love this medium. Metal prints are made by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, giving the images a more brilliant and saturated color pallet than with other media types. Metal is my favored media for my hummingbird images as it allows the brilliant colors of the birds to pop much like on the actual bird. The acute detail of the metal prints allows you to see details of the hummingbirds down to the individual feathers. Metal prints are light weight, archival, and easy to clean with a soft cloth. When selecting a metal print, I prefer a print with a 3/4 inset frame with a wire for hanging. However there are other framing options if you prefer.
